The Benefits of Learning English for Communication?
Japanese study English for ten or more years, from elementary school through university. However, many students can’t use English well because they study it only to pass entrance exams. What are the real benefits of learning it? First, English is the globe’s most studied ‘second language’ so it is our world’s most widely used common language. Few foreigners study Japanese, but we can speak with Chinese, Europeans, and Africans in (our and their) limited English. This also makes overseas travel easier and fun. Second, much popular entertainment like music, gaming, TV and movies are in English. Also, English is useful for AI, SNS, business, and even for your personal confidence building. Finally, over the next ten years, more foreigners will visit Japan and some may even choose to live here. Do you think that would make Japan a more interesting place to live?
